Guides
Self-serve hair education — length, texture, pieces, and care. For personal shade advice with your photos, use Colour match.
How to choose length
Measure from the crown (or nape for sew-ins) to where you want the ends to sit. Double-drawn hair looks fuller at the tips, so the same labelled length can read slightly denser than single-drawn.
- Shoulder: often 12–16"
- Mid-back: often 18–22"
- Waist / longer: 24"+ — plan extra bundles for fullness
Leave room for blending and layers. If you're between sizes, go longer — your stylist can take length off more easily than you can add it.
Texture matching
Match the hair's movement to your leave-out or desired finish — not only the colour name on the label. Straight, body wave, deep wave, and curly each sit differently once washed and diffused.
- Straight / yaki: sleek installs, low maintenance daily
- Body / loose wave: soft movement that still brushes out
- Deep wave / curly: more definition — moisturise and satin-protect
Unsure between two textures? Send daylight photos via Colour match and we'll advise.
Bundles, closures & frontals
- Bundles — wefts for sew-ins and weaves. Most medium lengths need 2–3; longer or thicker leave-outs often need 3–4.
- Closure — usually 4×4 or 5×5 lace to finish the crown and protect edges. Match texture and density to your bundles.
- Frontal — ear-to-ear lace for a fuller hairline and more parting freedom. Best when you want a glueless or lace-front look.
Buy closure/frontal from the same texture family as your bundles so the blend looks intentional after the first wash.
Care & wash
- Sulfate-free shampoo; cool to lukewarm water
- Detangle from ends upward with a wide-tooth comb or fingers
- Condition mid-lengths to ends; rinse thoroughly
- Air dry when you can; low heat if you must style
- Sleep on satin or use a bonnet to cut friction
- Deep condition curly / wavy textures every 1–2 weeks
